easy diy farmhouse decor

Do you love all the farmhouse decor that’s so popular these days?? ME, TOO!! Especially, since I live on a farm and have always kind of decorated that way (I use “decorated” loosely…. I’m so not talented in that area!) When we remodeled our house a few years ago, I ended up with a large, blank, windowless wall in our living room.  I had no idea what to do with it (remember the lack of talent in the decorating arena??), so I lived with it for 3 years and pondered. Just a little background onREAD MORE

disappearing hourglass quilt. One Way to Complete a Goal

So, I’ve been a little MIA here on the blog because I have been working on a goal that I set to be completed by March 1!  And that was my quilt. You see, I have the nasty habit of starting projects and not finishing them in a timely manner. I have all sorts of excuses…. Life gets in the way, I don’t have time, I don’t have the proper materials, etc. This particular quilt has been two years in the making.  I bought my fabric exactly two years ago, but first I made myselfREAD MORE

4 pieces of advice for parenting your autistc teenager

Parenting an autistic teenager is a whole different ball game than parenting a little kid.  Hormones go haywire, they get big and strong, and things just get harder.  It kind of comes as a shock, really. crossfit update

I cannot believe that it’s been 7 months since I started CrossFit!!  This is the longest I have stuck with a consistent fitness program and I can tell.  I figured a little update was in order…. I started CrossFit at the end of May last year and figured I’d stick with it until Labor Day.  This was mostly because our local group ran a deal that was good until then. Generally speaking, even though I’ve been working out regularly for 4 years, I don’t stick with any one thing for more than 2-3 months, soREAD MORE

2018 goals and word of the year

OK, so I’ve always been one to have resolutions or goals at the start of a new year.  Ever since I was a kid, I’d write them down in my diary or really ponder something.  As an adult, those resolutions became things like “Keep the house cleaner.”  Oh-so exciting and specific, right? Usually my resolutions revolved around my faults and very often, I never lived up to what I thought I should do.  I didn’t have a clear definition, though, just a general idea. This year I’m trying it differently.  I’m going to list outREAD MORE

crossfit review

Ever wondered what the CrossFit craze was all about?  Me, too.  So, I joined 4 weeks ago.  And let me tell you, if you DO NOT love a sweaty, hard, near-impossible workout, then CrossFit is not for you!  But, if you like getting  your butt kicked several times a week with other crazy people, then you should totally try it! I have been intrigued with CrossFit for several years, but never could justify driving into town (10 mile away) several days a week to workout.  Not to mention, the only time that might work forREAD MORE
